About the role

Benefits Analyst (Hybrid - 2-3 days per week onsite in Irvine, CA)

Overview:

The Benefits Analyst provides a critical role in the administration and management of Weedmaps’ employee benefits programs by ensuring that benefit offerings are competitive, compliant, and effectively managed.

The impact you'll make:

  • Supports the creation and management of a fair, equitable and competitive benefits package that aligns with Weedmaps’ strategy, business goals and talent needs.
  • Partners with benefits brokers to administer all employee benefits programs including, but not limited to, life, disability, and health insurance plans as well as the 401(k) plan.
  • Supports the development of ongoing education and communications to maximize employee awareness and participation in all health and welfare programs. 
  • Acts as the main internal point-of-contact for employees, managers and external partners to resolve benefits-related issues.
  • Assists in budgeting and monitoring of benefits costs. Works closely with Accounting to monitor and manage benefits expenses.
  • Supports the team in annual benefits plan reviews, and selection and implementation of new benefits programs.
  • Partners with benefits brokers to manage communication, administration and reporting for annual open enrollment.
  • Executes annual open-enrollment related tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Engages with benefits-related vendors to gather data, understand benefits plans/programs and identify opportunities for improvements
  • Partners with benefits-related vendors and relevant internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely execution of contracts and agreements as needed.
  • Prepares and supports the analysis of employee benefits-related reports for management.
  • Prepares and performs all benefit plan audits and annual testing and reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manages day-to-day leave of absence administration.
  • Supports the workers compensation process as needed.

What you've accomplished:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Human Resources with a primary focus on Benefits.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with attention to detail.
  • High degree of independence and problem solving skills.
  • Team oriented self-starter with the ability to prioritize, monitor and control workflow deadlines and be flexible.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, Section 125 and other applicable laws and regulations as pertains to benefits plan administration. 
  • Demonstrated project management skills and able to effectively manage multiple priorities.

Bonus Points:

  • Prior experience in a public company.
  • Prior experience with systems implementation and administration.
  • Prior experience supporting annual open enrollment.
  • Prior experience as the customer point of contact for benefits-related questions/issues.

The base pay range for this position is $79,000.00 - $87,000.00 per year
