The Medtronic Memphis Airways site is a dynamic and innovative facility dedicated to advancing medical technology and improving patient outcomes. Located in the heart of Memphis, this site is a hub for cutting-edge manufacturing and engineering, playing a crucial role in the production of life-saving medical devices. The Memphis Airways site is known for its state-of-the-art facilities, collaborative work environment, and commitment to excellence.

We’re looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer I to join our team at the Memphis Airways site. As a Manufacturing Engineer I, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the development of innovative medical devices that make a difference in patients' lives.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.

  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.

  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.

  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.

  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

  • Source, purchase, make plans and schedules for the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, services, supplies, finished goods, and related material through production and inventory processes.

  • Ensure production, warehouse, and engineering personnel executes appropriate procurement, scheduling, and movement of materials and services.

  • Foster strategic initiatives, relationships, and communications with manufacturing and key suppliers to confirm production/shipping schedules and monitored open purchase orders for all orders to ensure on-time deliveries.

  • Analyze and influence material master data at the plant levels to support BOM, routings, and other production functions.

  • Maintain purchase order status and shipment tracking information in SAP systems.

  • Organize and update project timelines, ensuring milestones are on track.

  • Schedule meetings with stakeholders and team members.

  •  Assign and track task progress using project management tools

  • Draft and send project updates to stakeholders.

  • Participate in daily or weekly check-ins to track progress.

  • Support cross-functional teams in aligning tasks with project goals.

  • Maintain efficiency by following up on pending action items.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0+ years of relevant experience

Nice to Have

  • 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering role.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is a plus.

  • Experience using SAP, MII, or Agile.
