Project Overview:
Bechtel Enterprises is the project development, investment, and financing arm of Bechtel. We develop projects, lead project M&A activities, and provide project financing services across power, energy, transportation, and other sectors. We have developed or co-developed over 70 projects ($46 billion in project costs) and have helped arrange over $54 billion in financing for Bechtel projects, including over 18,000MW of power projects across 10 countries. Bechtel Enterprises is headquartered in Reston, Virginia and has offices in Houston, New York, London, Singapore, and Washington, D.C.
Bechtel has played a pivotal role in clean energy for decades, delivering more than 100,000MW of nuclear and hydro generation capacity globally, as well as landmark renewable energy projects such as Ivanpah Solar and California Valley Solar Ranch. Today, the foundation of our clean energy strategy is developing and building “core renewables” projects (solar PV, wind, and solar + battery storage), in addition to advancing work in nuclear, hydro and newer technologies (clean hydrogen, carbon capture, long duration storage).
To drive Bechtel’s clean energy strategy, in 2020 we formed CleanGen, Inc. CleanGen is Bechtel’s wholly owned clean energy development platform which is part of Bechtel Enterprises. CleanGen is currently focused on developing greenfield utility-scale solar, onshore wind, and hybrid projects in the U.S., with medium-term goals to expand internationally. By combining the development expertise of CleanGen with Bechtel’s EPC capabilities, our mission is to efficiently create (i.e., develop, engineer, construct) high quality new clean energy assets for electricity buyers and owner/operators around the world.
