POSITION OVERVIEW
The Health & Physical Education Specialist at the Oklahoma State Department of Education is a key leadership role focused on advancing physical education and health literacy across Oklahoma. This position will lead and support Oklahoma educators in delivering highly effective physical education instruction, ensuring the integration and alignment of the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Physical Education and Health Education into school curriculums. The specialist will also collaborate with various health literacy initiatives to promote comprehensive and cohesive health education throughout the state.
Please note: this role does not allow for any form of remote work, including telecommuting or hybrid arrangements. The nature of this position necessitates a consistent in-person presence. Prospective candidates should be aware that the responsibilities associated with this role require physical presence at the designated workplace in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
PLEASE NOTE: This position is funded through the TSET Grant which is funded by the TSET State Funds. The funding for this position will end on June 30, 2027.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or Health Education or related field [official transcripts required upon hire];
- Possession of a valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate or administrative certificate;
- At least three (3) years’ teaching experience or coordinating curriculum and instruction for PK-12.
