Position Overview
The Senior Research Associate (certified histology technician) will be central to advancing our drug development pipeline. You will spearhead immunohistochemistry assay development, execution and validation to deeply understand our pre-IND candidates. You will play a crucial role for our ongoing programs and shape the development of our novel therapeutic technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Research Design and Execution:
- Prepare sections for in situ and multiplex assay development.
- Identify sources and procure tissues and blocks. Maintain data logs for acquired samples.
- Contribute to the establishment of an immunohistochemistry (IHC) core, incl. instrument purchasing, installation planning & coordination.
- Expertly design, develop, guide, troubleshoot and validate IHC assay development for lead candidate molecules.
- Independently execute laboratory experiments, following established protocols, developing new protocols and ensuring the highest standards of scientific rigor.
- Manage CRO contracts for routine histology and IHC.
- Participate in general lab upkeep including tracking of and stocking reagents.
- Communicate project status and results to stakeholders and management. Leverage expertise to enable decision making.
- Partner and collaborate with teams in a scientific development environment.
Data Analysis and Interpretation:
- Keep meticulous experimental notes.
- Analyze and summarize experimental data from IHC assays.
- Interpret, understand and communicate complex scientific data to guide rapid decision making.
Project Collaboration:
- Operate independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams to design and plan experiments aimed at advancing drug development projects.
- Collaborate with colleagues from diverse scientific disciplines, including chemistry, pathology, biomarker, pharmacology, and translational medicine to achieve project goals.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain timely detailed and accurate electronic laboratory notebooks documenting experimental procedures, results, and conclusions.
- Prepare and present research findings to internal cross-functional teams and contribute to project updates and strategic discussions while providing assay expertise and insights.
Continuous Learning and Development:
- Excited about exploring new avenues and developing new assays.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in techniques for evaluating targeted therapeutics.
- Proactively seek opportunities for professional development and contribute to the scientific growth of the research team.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of extensive experience performing assay development in a discovery research setting including multi-target and multi-species assays in preclinical drug development.
- Certified histotechnician (HT) or histotechnologist (HTL).
- Experienced immunoassay development scientist.
- Familiarity with several IHC platforms including BondRX.
- Experience managing and/or mentoring direct reports is a plus.
- Previous experience in antibody-based therapeutics or oncology drug discovery is preferred.
- Employment level will be commensurate with experience.
