EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

This role is working on regional and nationally significant Strategic Resource Options (SROs), which focus on reducing drought risk and securing future water supply for water companies across the country. Severn Trent is integral to this and are delivering five of these innovative schemes, as well as a number of new schemes which are in the early feasibility and design stages for. The Environmental Lead will focus on delivering the environmental programmes for both the new and existing SROs from project inception, feasibility and design to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and planning application submission.

This is a great opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects and other major capital projects, making a significant contribution to developing future water resources, for our region and beyond.

More about the environmental workstream:

  • Led by the Environment and Water Resources Lead, the SRO Environment Team sits within our Chief Engineer directorate and is integral to Severn Trent’s SRO programme. We work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary project teams with regulators, internal partners, specialists, and consultants to ensure that best outcomes for the environment are incorporated into the design for the SRO projects.
  • Key Responsibilities of an Environmental Technical Lead include:
  • Lead the delivery of the environmental investigations for one or more of the SRO projects.
  • Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to define the environmental scope and timelines required to enable the SROs to progress through each gate.
  • Procure, manage and contribute to the environmental and technical work packages being delivered by consultants for the SROs.
  • Building trust with regulators and stakeholders to ensure a no surprises approach to our environmental investigations and help deliver the required outcomes for the environmental investigations.
  • Work with technical experts inside and outside Severn Trent in order to get the best outcome for the SROs.
  • Following cross- company procurement guidance to procure work packages.
  • Prepare and assure environmental input to the regulatory gate papers and other submissions to RAPID.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Experience of collaborative working with consultants, engineers, project managers, other water companies, stakeholders and regulators.
  • Knowledge of relevant water and environmental legislation in the UK and awareness of potential future changes.
  • Experience of Stakeholder Management as you’ll need to build trusting relationships with our environmental and water quality regulators and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the relevant regulatory, social, political and environmental drivers that affect Severn Trent and the SRO projects.
