Job Description
Primary Function of Position: Intuitive seeks an experienced and forward-thinking interventional pulmonologist to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of its endoluminal technology and impacting the lives of millions of patients. This unique opportunity allows a practicing interventionalist to blend their clinical expertise with a part-time position as an Associate Medical Officer. The successful candidate will co-manage the Endoluminal Medical Office, engaging in a wide spectrum of medical affairs activities. This role offers a distinctive chance to contribute directly to the evolution of medical technology by providing crucial clinical and medical insights to product and procedure development teams. The influence of this position extends to the assessment of clinical benefit-risk, ensuring patient safety and product efficacy. Furthermore, the Medical Officer will support medical research initiatives aimed at increasing the adoption of Intuitive's innovative solutions. A key aspect of the role involves advising on reimbursement strategies, market access initiatives, and the development and publication of compelling clinical and health-economic evidence. This position necessitates close collaboration with various internal departments within Intuitive, including Post Market Surveillance and Investigation, Medical Safety Office, Regulatory Compliance, Quality, and Product Development Engineering. Regular interaction with Clinical Affairs, Training and Education, and Global Market Access teams is also anticipated, underscoring the cross-functional nature of this impactful role.
Roles and Responsibilities:This position holds the responsibility and authority to:
- Driving Clinically Relevant Product Development:
- Act as the clinical voice within product development teams, ensuring that new technologies are aligned with clinical needs and physician workflows.
- Collaborate extensively with clinical engineering, user experience designers, and product marketing managers to integrate clinical insights into the design and functionality of new products.
- Steer the development of comprehensive clinical test protocols to rigorously evaluate the safety and effectiveness of new technologies.
- Perform hands-on clinical evaluations, providing critical feedback to refine product design and optimize usability.
- Ensuring Product Safety and Performance:
- Provide deft clinical risk assessment to guide Post Market Surveillance and Investigation teams in evaluating complaints, adverse events, and product performance trends.
- Evaluate real-world clinical data to identify the potential impact on patient safety and overall product effectiveness.
- Closely participate in Health Hazard Evaluations (HHEs), contributing clinical expertise to risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to the drafting of reports and assist in formulating responses to inquiries from global regulatory agencies.
- Engage with practicing physicians to gather firsthand clinical insights related to product performance and any reported adverse events.
- Expanding the Clinical Utility of the Ion Endoluminal System:
- Partner with cross-functional leadership to develop and execute the clinical strategy for expanding the applications of the Ion Endol
