Pinecone is pioneering search and database technology that's making many AI applications possible. Our managed vector database provides customers with easy-to-use capabilities that until now have only been in the hands of a few tech giants. The demand for vector databases is growing incredibly fast, and it shows in our user base. We have a large audience of ML engineers, software engineers, data scientists, and software architects who are eager to learn and build with our product.

As the Director of Developer Relations at Pinecone, you will have a significant impact on how engineers discover, explore, and build with our product. You will report to the VP of Marketing and have at least five people report to you on day one. You will work closely with your counterparts in Marketing, Product, and Engineering.

• Comfort working and managing in a fast-paced (startup) environment with a high degree of autonomy.
• Superb communication skills, both internal and external.

Pinecone is a distributed team with clusters in New York, San Francisco, and Tel Aviv. You will be part of a world-class team from companies like Amazon, Google, Databricks, and Splunk. The company emerged from stealth in January 2021 with $10M in seed funding — led by the same legendary investor as Snowflake —  followed by $28M Series A funding announced in March 2022 and $100 Series B funding announced in April 2023.

Responsibilities

• Identify, own, and report on DevRel KPIs to executive leadership
• Lead team of developer advocates, technical writers, and community managers
• Plan, execute, and scale our DevRel strategy, including but not limited to:
• Advocacy: content, example code, user acceleration, community engagement
• Development: contributions to open-source, demos
• Documentation: concept docs, guides, API and client references
• Community: developer forum, champions program, events, and email/social communication
• Develop close and collaborative partnerships with Product Marketing, Product, and Engineering teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of DevRel experience in an infrastructure, security, or developer-tool company
• 1+ years of Director-level management experience
