Nursing skills gained on this unit: 

·         Critical thinking skills

·         ONS Chemotherapy/immunotherapy certification

·         BLS certification

·         Peripheral IV and vascular access device skills

·         Assist with bedside procedures such as lumbar puncture and intrathecal chemotherapy

·         Patient and family education

·         Continuous learning

·         Accreditations-NCI designated comprehensive cancer center

·         QOPI certified

·         Greater than 50% of nurses are certified in their specialty (OCN)

·         Multidisciplinary team approach to patient care-collaboration with physician, APP, pharmacy, social work, and nutrition teams

 

Qualifications:

·         Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.

·         Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.

·         Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.

·         Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.

·         Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
