Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine (XOCOM) is accepting applications for the position of Sr. Executive Assistant. This job provides professional level administrative support to the Executive(s), department(s) or function(s) assigned by performing a variety of tasks such as typing, sorting, filing, photocopying, maintaining calendars, booking travel, submitting expense reports and ordering supplies. Creates documents such as memos and other correspondence and generates reports using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other software as needed. Serves as a point of contact for the department answering calls, relaying messages, and escalating issues to the appropriate person / group. Manages projects and organizes events such as lunches and meetings. Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) is a national leader in educating African American students who go on to complete medical school – a distinction the institution has held for many decades. XULA and Ochsner have been working together since the early 1980s. Through their ongoing partnership, Ochsner and XULA have advanced healthcare equity through several programs, including a program for physician assistants that has graduated 108 students. By creating this new medical school, XOCOM is taking a big step toward improving healthcare for all the communities they serve. Together, they will train doctors who care deeply about their patients and understand the importance of diversity and high-quality medicine.
Education
Required - High School diploma or equivalent or Business School Training
Preferred - Associate's degree
Work Experience
Required - 5 years experience in a professional administrative role supporting an executive level leader
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills; managing a variety of tasks at once with frequent interruptions and minimal supervision.
