We are seeking to hire candidates for our Constituent/Community Relations Coordinator (9001).

Salary Range: $70,668.00-$88,348.00       

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

Establishes and maintains a cooperative relationship between the Authority and the public in the five (5) County service region. Works with SEPTA’s Engineering, operating and capital divisions in the coordination of project information to the communities and stakeholders impacted. Develop programs to enhance SEPTA’s communication to our stakeholders.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manages day-to-day constituent and community relations activities related to building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders who share the Authority’s long term interest.
  2. Identifies and organizes proactive groups among elected officials, the business community, and community based organizations. 
  3. Establishes a stakeholder database for each of the five counties in the service region similar to the legislative database capable of fax-blasting, mail merge and emailing. Responsible for managing database, including development, implementation, updating, and use of its capabilities.
  4. Formulates, develops and initiates strategies to solicit active support for the Authority’s funding needs, service implementation and changes, and construction project impacts in the service area.
  5. Interacts with construction project managers, contractors, transportation management during infrastructure, maintenance and/or construction projects to assure project information is communicated accurately.
  6. Mitigates issues with businesses, residents and community groups during construction projects.
  7. Serves as construction project community liaison for the Authority with residents, community groups, businesses, elected officials and riders. Meet with community groups and associations affected by project construction; coordinates closely with SEPTA and municipal departments and agencies to assure proper notification of stakeholders.
  8. Works closely with Government Affairs, Media Relations, and Communications department staff to develop appropriate strategies to effectively communicate the various interests of the groups that are in support of SEPTA.
  9. Responsible, as project liaison, for all elements related to support of projects including deadlines and informational collateral used for promotions and events. 
  10. Assists other groups and organizations in the establishments of coalitions where shared interests and common goals exist; keeps close relationships with organizations  in order to stay abreast of their interests, concerns, and actions as they may impact SEPTA; increases SEPTA’s visibility through participation on non-profit boards and special projects. 
  11. Coordinates with Legal, Engineering, Real Estate, Risk Management, and the appropriate SEPTA department with community groups and/or artists or artistic groups who want to beautify (i.e. install art or banners/plant and maintain flowers, bushes/plants) on SEPTA property.
  12. Provides briefings to internal and external constituents regarding status, implementation and future impact of the New Payment Technology program. 
  13. Represents SEPTA at various governmental meetings with transit and community impact.
  14. Interacts with various city and/or county departments regarding community engagement and outreach as it relates to transit and transit-oriented development.
  15. Represent Manager of Local and Community Affairs at internal and external events, meetings etc., in his/her absence.
  16. Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for persona
