Role Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Biodevices and Instruments Data & Digital Architect, ZTD R&D is responsible for delivering IT expertise, strategy, and solutions to fulfill technology-oriented objectives and needs of R&D at Zoetis (VMRD).  This includes:

• System Integration: Oversee the design and implementation of integrated systems solutions, ensuring compatibility and efficiency across different platforms working with several IT groups within the company and sometimes external partners/customers as well.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to understand and document system requirements, translating business needs into technical specifications.
• Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with business leaders to understand their needs and translate them into IT requirements.
• Project Prioritization: Assist in prioritizing IT projects to ensure alignment with business goals and maximum return on investment supported by queriable metrics.
• Communication: Serve as the main point of contact between IT and other departments, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
• Roadmap Development: Develop multi-year business capability roadmaps in collaboration with enterprise architecture and business transformation teams.
• Collaboration and Process Improvement: Optimize system performance, streamline permissions, and collaborate across teams to support onboarding, ticket resolution, and enterprise setups.
• Operational Excellence: Optimize system performance and workflows, support complex IT environments, and conduct business analysis to align IT capabilities with organizational needs.
• Identify Job Technical requirements for IT project technical resources.
• Manage Onsite IT Resource:
  • Develop and Deploy Technical Solutions: Examples include deployment of code to integrate systems to Azure, ChatGPT, etc. Other Cloud system technical deployments/updates to configuration, etc.
  • System and Network Management: Manage and optimize network infrastructure, virtual environments, and server provisioning to ensure efficient performance and secure operations.
  • PC and Lab Support: Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot test and personal PCs, resolving advanced connectivity, firewall, and administrative issues.
  • Miscellaneous Support: Provide technical support for connectivity, e.g. Zoom, guide teams through critical IT processes, and assist with test system setups at contract manufacturers.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Enterprise Applications Support:

• Provide technical ownership and expertise for applications such as 3DX, OrCAD, and JAMA, including configuration and troubleshooting specific to PDM and/or EDM.
• Collaborate with CloudOps on GitHub and Azure integration, account provisioning, and deployment.
• Develop enterprise approaches for on-premise server setups and virtual environments.

IT Resource collaboration:

• Develop a strong relationship with co-located Site Services and offshore software and engineering teams to develop new solutions and solve issues with any existing platforms.
• Manage prioritization and delivery of projects and, where needed, onsite support issues.
• Provide guidance and training, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Business Relationship Management:

• Maintain a well-managed initiative portfolio, ensuring projects align with strategic objectives.
• Identify and communicate business value when developing new ideas, focusing on digital awareness, risk assessment, and business continuity.
• Ensure IT services meet the needs of the business, providing input to service portfolio management and service level management.
• Guide teams through Third Party Risk Management (TPRM), vendor onboarding, and cloud services processes.
• Leveraging internal IT processes to drive approval and support for project execution.
• Perform Business Analysis with SME’s to efficiently ascertain the needs and overall roadmap for delivery of IT capabilities to meet those needs including partnering with the larger ZTD team to prepare business cases and justify the value for each investment.

System Architect:

• Develop and maintain detailed IT architecture models, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and meet performance requirements.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all system architectures and configurations.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, incorporating relevant advancements into the IT infrastructure.
