What will you do?
As a Digital Merchandiser, you will support and execute merchandising strategies across the North America websites (US and Canada) and mobile app. You will obsess improving customer conversion, AOV, revenue and time on site by presenting Vans’ products in the right way, at the right time, and in the right combination. You will collaborate closely across the digital team (merchants, content authors, retention and operations SME’s) as well as with other departments – Product, Marketing, Merchandising, Buyers and Planners to bring products to life and manage their life cycle on site. Weekly and monthly, you will support reporting efforts across category and aid in constructing the product performance narrative. The position reports to the Manager of Digital Merchandising and is a hybrid position working 3 days a week at our Costa Mesa, CA headquarters and 2 days from home.
Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.
- Follow a merchandising calendar and support where pivots are needed, inform and update regularly based on changes in inventory and product delivery dates.
- Consistent, daily maintenance of the online store, executing product merchandising strategies across the suite of tools touching categorization, imagery, badging, product copy, pricing, bundling, filters/facets, site search, cross sell carousels, and size/fit information.
- Support documenting merchandising processes.
- Leverage the site feed to identify data inconsistencies, errors and hygiene tasks.
- Knowledgeable in product offering or within assigned categories: sku count, top sellers, worst performers, full price to markdown mix, depth of inventory, highest and lowest price points.
- Own assigned product categories utilizing site metrics (including product views, reviews, conversion, sell through, style and category penetration, AOV and AUR) to guide areas of focus.
- Meet with Buyers and Merchandisers regularly to update on seasonal execution and performance. Attend seasonal category relevant go-to-market and buy meetings.
- Close partnership with the Merchandising team to identify key products for seasonal campaigns.
- Learns all product assets in the DAM and looks for opportunities to have team apply assets.
- Support the retention team through the proof process including vetting featured products and CTA links.
- Develop close relationships with product designers, marketers and product merchandisers and buyers to ensure robust product information is ultimately funneled to copywriters.
- Hands on with the seasonal product data preparation to include defining attributes, gathering key product information to funnel through team for PDP copy, proofing product data ahead of launch dates.
- Execute Navigation updates in CMS.
- Upload seasonal product into PIM, manage promotion set up and upload price books in SFCC.
- Proactively input merchandising bug tickets and track progress through to resolution.
- Support updating the merchandising playbook and calendar.
- Lead and mentor coordinators utilizing their strengths coupled with teaching/coaching as needed.
What success looks like:
- Consistently and proactively communicating data insights (sell through, inventory position, traffic, CVR, AUR) and proposing actions to peers and team leaders.
- Maintaining an accurate product database.
- Visible life cycle management in respective categories (PLP|PDP management, badging).
- Improving sell through and velocity of sales in categories.
- Deep knowledge of categories and products within.
