The opportunity: Bill Resolve is a health insurance navigation and billing negotiation arm of PinnacleCare, the nation’s leading healthcare advisory firm and a member of the Sun Life Financial family. We are looking for a Senior Financial Care Advocate to join our team and leverage your medical billing and health insurance expertise as we build our group employee billing resolution services. This role will empower group employees to realize the most value out of their healthcare policy by providing education and guidance on health plan offerings and/or the composition of hospital and physician bills; identifying billing errors; negotiating payment plans; and filing appeals. They will also consult directly with members who are retiring before age 65, transitioning from COBRA, or becoming eligible for Medicare to understand their policy needs and provide available options for new insurance coverage.
Additionally, the Senior Financial Care Advocate will act as the subject matter expert for our employer health insurance services by leveraging extensive practical experience to help with the design, development, and implementation of key initiatives. You will provide your expertise to enable the development of our employer billing solution.
How you will contribute:
- Consult with group employees (members) to assess their health insurance and billing needs
- Research, analyze, and present available insurance policy options to members who need medical insurance coverage from Medicare or the open Insurance Marketplace
- Assist member with enrollment in their chosen plan
- Manage task tracking and record interactions in our Patient Management Database to ensure that everyone we work with receives timely attention
- Connect members with resources across PinnacleCare and Sun Life
- Understand current service offerings and core competencies in the billing and insurance advocacy space, especially in the employer space
- Provide insights regarding employer-specific program design and management
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand successful business outcomes and how to best achieve them
- Work with management to scope out and execute on special projects that improve ClaimMedic operations and/or revenue opportunities
What you will bring with you:
- Ability to work with a diverse range of people
- 5 years experience in health insurance sales, insured member services, or the medical billing industry
- AHIP Medicare Certificate preferred, this is not required as we are willing to assist in obtaining this certificate for a candidate that has a very strong knowledge of Medicare
- Experience with the enrollment process for Medicare, Medicare Supplemental, Medicare Advantage, and Prescription Drug plans
- Affordable Care Act, Insurance Marketplace, Open Enrollment process experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work independently, with a strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and strong relationship-building skills
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple client matters simultaneously
- Computer proficiency in MS Office
- Salesforce experience preferred
- Team player with a strong work ethic and “can do” attitude
