The Medical Science Liaison Director will report directly to the Head of Medical Affairs, NHSc Pharma and will work closely with several departments including but not limited to Sales, Market Access, Marketing, & Commercial Operations, Compliance, and external customers. As a Medical Science Liaison Director, you will be responsible for management, performance, and coaching of MSL direct reports and ensure compliant implementation of field medical activities to support Medical Affairs objectives.
This role will work with medical leadership in development of field medical strategy, tactical goals and objectives, and scientific engagement plans. The individual will foster compliant cross-functional collaboration and communication with commercial and market access field activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides oversight and lead a team of MSLs to ensure team effectiveness and medical field activities support medical affairs strategy
- Develop MSL strategy and tactical implementation
- Accompany MSL in meetings with HCPs and health care decision makers to assess proficiency and provide timely and constructive performance feedback
- Lead and coordinate MSL team meetings to support team building, best practice sharing, development, and execution of field medical objectives
- Foster team culture to create an environment of inclusion, collegiality, and collaboration
- Forge positive relationships with internal collaborators in Medical Affairs, Field Sales, Value and Access, and Marketing teams. May serve as med affairs representative for cross-functional initiatives
- Provide input on annual budget and resource allocation for the therapeutic area and manage field medical budget
- Support planning and field medical execution of local, regional, and national congresses
- Ensure team achieves compliant and clinically meaningful scientific engagements & activities with health care decision makers, payers, and other health care partners in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, industry codes, and NHSc Pharma Code of Conduct
REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) AND 5+ years in management of field-based medical team
- 10+ years of industry experience in Scientific or Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company
- 5 + years leadership experience
- 5+ years in a MSL role
- Therapeutic area experience in Gastroenterology or Infectious Disease and/or Microbiome science
- Proficient at creating and communicating a clear vision among team members
- Ability to travel as needed to work with MSLs

The approximate pay range for this position is $is $235,000-$275,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
