Job Overview
Performs engineering work under the direction of a licensed Professional Engineer, investigating, evaluating, planning, computer modeling, designing, constructing, managing, or inspecting public infrastructure projects.
Ideal candidate
Hillsborough County Water Resources Department is seeking an Engineer Intern or/ Engineer Intern-Trainee to assist with in a variety of dynamic activities relating to water treatment, wastewater treatment, and reclaimed water distribution systems. Day to day activities include data analysis of plant performance, critical equipment function evaluations, field sampling, working with operations staff to understand the Department’s role in protecting our environment, and supporting facility planning as well as design and construction reviews of active facility projects. The ideal candidate must be able to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and obtain their Engineer Intern Certification within 12 months of hire. The candidate should have some experience through education and/or previous job duties in engineering concepts, theories, and practices related to water/wastewater/reclaimed water; the ability to use independent judgement to accomplish assigned duties, ability to listen and communicate effectively, working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Under the direction of a supervisor or manager, reviews the work of engineering consultants engaged in planning survey, design, review, construction, operations, maintenance, and administration of engineering projects, programs, or systems.
