Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Data Engineer 3 to join our Production and Material Control (PMC) Team in support of Manufacturing Operations projects in Baltimore, MD.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual, with an eagerness to learn, and a passion for improving operations through innovative tools and models. The selected candidate must have a willingness to explore new technologies independently and collaborate on capabilities and solutions in a team environment.

This position is 100% On-Site due to the nature of the work.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Develop expertise in new Dynamic Production Scheduling (DPS) capability, building processes for modelling and validating BWI manufacturing system and demand accurately in support of automating schedule creation and executable manufacturing build plans.

  • Work with Synchrono (supplier) to become a DPS technical subject matter expert in support of manufacturing planning and scheduling

  • Work with Master Schedulers to understand DPS Schedule metric detractors and make recommendations for improvement

  • Work with Industrial Engineering group to ensure routings reflect all necessary data elements to properly schedule hardware through the factory

  • Collaborate with PMC team teams to understand planning, scheduling and visibility needs and build custom solutions in Tableau or similar tools to meet those needs

  • Collect and analyze KPI information for the PMC organization, offering insights into areas of opportunity, process gaps, and best practices

  • Develop analytical tools and reports to provide insights into detractors impacting the material flow through the kitting and manufacturing processes, as well as mitigations that may improve flow

  • SAP metric maintenance, i.e., Aging Orders, and Overdue hours, 'Confirmed not Delivered' orders, floor stock inventory control, and the resolving of material shortages as they’re late to open production orders

  • Lead/collaborate on Continuous Improvement projects within PMC

  • Assist in developing and maintaining SharePoint systems for department use

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to data fidelity, dashboards or reports

  • Communicate effectively with internal customers, in written and verbal format

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience in Business Operations, Manufacturing, Production, or STEM area (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience in Business Operations, Manufacturing, Production, or STEM area; 9 years of relevant experience in Business Operations, Manufacturing, Production, or STEM area may be considered in lieu of degree

  • 5 years of experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (such as SAP/ERP or other related system)

  • Experience with data mining and analysis

  • Experience in database or web programming, information systems or data management

  • Experience with object-oriented languages, such as JAVA, VBA, Pyth
