We’re searching for a Technical Program Manager - Safety. Technical Program Managers develop, track, and own the tactical road maps.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Safety Organization’s safety case priorities and programmatic roadmap over a 2-3 year timeline, including the development of policies and procedures governing the program
  • Assist in developing the strategy to identify and execute programmatic needs 
  • Manage the delivery of Safety Case evidence and assessment activities which is the responsibility of the Safety Organization
  • Lead impact analysis and manage the lifecycle and bring up multiple safety cases 
  • Synthesize and develop safety case summary and analysis reports communicating progress, activities, and programmatic accomplishments
  • Partner and proactively engage with cross-functional teams to ensure the Safety Organization’s work is aligning with broader organizational development
  • Track progress, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks and communicate status to upper management and program stakeholders, and engage and energize the program teams to achieve aggressive goals
  • Resolve obstacles and misalignments to maintain momentum and progress, identify gaps in communication or schedule, manage issue escalations and provide support to teams balancing competing priorities, and drive results proactively
  • Provide “vertical” program management for the Safety Organization, including identifying work streams (new and existing) that should be captured in Objectives and Key Results, while also providing “horizontal” management of Safety Organization OKRs
  • Support technical and strategic planning, leading conversations with key stakeholders to develop concepts for initiatives, and developing those into detailed program / project plans

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a Technical Program Manager in safety-critical regulated industry (e.g. aerospace, automotive, aviation, medical devices, nuclear, rail).
  • Strong proficiency in Atlassian product suite (Jira, Confluence), specifically managing interdependencies across multiple Jira projects 
  • Strong experience in project management; practical familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and ability to apply them where best suited.
  • Familiarity with planning Objectives and Key Results across complex projects and multi-year roadmaps. 
  • Experience in planning and milestone tracking for new program rollouts.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with safety case based approach and developing summaries for finalized safety cases
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
  • Proficient use of data visualization tools and ability to create program dashboards (Jira, Smartsheet, Data Studio)

The base salary range for this position is $141,000 - $211,000per year.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
