This position will provide program/administrative support to the LeadNY Program in the Department of Global Development).

Support the Executive Director of the Lead New York Program by coordinating and managing activities associated with the program. (This program is an intensive, two-year leadership development program for adult professionals working in the food, agriculture and natural resource sectors of the Northeast.) Manage program on a day-to-day basis by scheduling facilities; obtaining materials; establish protocols for set-up and take-down; securing speakers and tour locations; initiating and arranging complex travel and group accommodations; preparing program resources. Adhere to and work within budget limitation; may develop and manage program budgets, monitor purchases and supplies. Serve as resource and contact for stakeholders and may facilitate program development; advise participants on standard procedures and assist with problems. Recommend and implement programmatic policies and procedures. Develop and maintain effective relationships with other segments of the department and individuals or organizations outside of the University. Participate in strategic and operational planning for the program. Represent the program as an on-site administrator at events both on and off- campus; monitor quality issues; interact with and advise multiple stakeholders; troubleshoot problems. Develop, update, and distribute all marketing materials for the program; provide input and assist in developing marketing strategies. May negotiate performance, service and/or supply contracts required by the program. Assist with special projects as assigned. Some overnight travel required.

This is a full-time, 39 hours/week position (97.5% FTE). This is a one year term appointment that is renewable contingent on available work, funding, and performance.

Position is located in Ithaca, NY.  

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Employees typically perform this role remotely 2 days per week and on-site 3 days per week. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke, or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.

What We Need

We are looking for a team member who is organized, adaptable, a good problem solver, and has attention to detail. Additionally, you will have: 

  • Associate degree; 2 to 4 years of experience or equivalent combination.; Coursework in event management, financial management, computer applications, and other job-related skills.
  • Prior experience with responsibility for interacting with a diverse group of individuals, monitoring budgets and financial records, arranging events, and using computer applications.
  • Proficiency with electronic mail (Outlook), Microsoft Word, Excel, FileMaker, university accounting software, social media presence, marketing, website maintenance and electronic calendar (Outlook) is required.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be very detailed and accurate, methodical, well-spoken, and be accurate in spelling, grammar, and proof- reading.
  • Ability to work well with others is required while creating a high-quality professional and respectful work environment. 
  • Experience that demonstrates sound judgment, creativity, management, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work well within a team of professionals.
  • Must be able to work independently while supporting the efforts of an overall team.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy with a wide range of internal and external constituencies is a must. Must have demonstrated ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Desire to represent and promote New York State food and agriculture systems.
  • Occasional (2-3 nights per month) overnight travel required (to seminars and recruiting events); adjust work schedule to meet program needs.
