SHOULD YOU ACCEPT THIS CHALLENGE...
The FP&A Director, Corporate Functions will be a key member of the Pure Storage finance team, driving global reporting/planning/forecasting, automating operational processes, and improving systems/tools that scale for Pure’s growth as well as producing analysis & insights for executive reporting, finance metrics, and Board of Director presentations.
This is a highly visible people-manager role that will drive optimization of global investments and spending, help lead process improvement within FP&A and cross-functionally with other teams including HR and accounting, and serve as the finance business partner for multiple C-level executives. This role will also oversee Pure’s strategic investments in transformational initiatives & projects, and own reporting of key operating expense metrics on a weekly, monthly and quarterly cadence to executive staff.
Job Responsibilities:
- Partner with Pure’s corporate function leaders (including offices of the CEO, CTO, CHRO, CFO, CIO, and General Counsel) as the strategic “CFO” to their organizations
- Serve on the cross-functional leadership team that oversees Pure’s company-wide strategic investments in transformation projects
- Manage planning, reporting, forecasting, and analysis for headcount and operating expenses across multiple functions, corporate line items, and shared allocated costs
- Develop best practice financial and business processes that can be shared and cascaded to other FP&A controllers
- Deliver business partner financial packages that can be leveraged by Corporate FP&A for consolidations as well as other business partner FP&A leads to communicate financial results in a standard format to their business partners on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Drive business insight and business excellence across all operating and capital expense line items and KPIs, geographies, and business units
- Pull together weekly/monthly/quarterly finance metrics published to executive staff, including metrics for hiring, retention, investment allocation, expense run rate, and operating leverage
- Partner closely with HR, accounting, IT and other functions to drive consistency and alignment in business requirements and definitions, reporting hierarchies, integrated systems, and scalable processes (e.g. procure to pay) to enhance and transform reporting and business intelligence
- Manage a team and develop them into high-impact contributors
- Participate in the continued development of planning, budgeting, forecasting, and modeling tools and processes to improve automation and efficiency
- Perform ad hoc analysis covering, but not limited to: headcount growth, personnel investments including cost per head trending, subscription spending, facilities, depreciation, and other operational metrics.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...
- BA degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent; MBA a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressively complex roles in a financial function with financial planning and analysis experience/understanding, particularly in a business-facing FP&A role.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and “story-telling” skills, particularly to executive managem
