Role Description
The Research Analyst is broadly responsible for supporting daily content operations, ensuring the quality and integrity of the Biomedtracker and Meddevicetracker databases, providing research support to clients and supporting consulting/ad-hoc projects as necessary. These objectives are achieved through a solid understanding of the standard operating procedures and business rules of the database and various drug intelligence sources, collecting key drug and trial data, conducting additional research and devising basic database search strategies for clients, and performing basic data analysis.
This is an individual contributor position. The analyst is expected to collaborate with more senior level members of the Biomedtracker team as well as other analysts within the commercial and clinical domains as needed.
Role Responsibilities
Content Production
- Support Research Analyst team in maintaining a real-time and accurate database
- Collect and track day-to-day market driven events pertaining to drugs and companies in the biotech/pharma industry and enter the data into our internal content management system
- Review, update, and add drug and company records based on publicly available information, including but not limited to, company pipelines and press releases, clinical trial registries, medical literature/conferences, and SEC filings
- Review company earnings announcements to stay abreast of their activities and develop an understanding of their pipeline and disease focus
- Monitor upcoming catalysts for updates on a daily, weekly, monthly basis
- Contribute insightful analysis on upcoming catalysts to Quarterly Outlook reports and other publications (Nature, Scrip, etc.)
- Acquire basic understanding of and competence in internal content management systems to master database functionality and all processes related to content creation and maintenance
- Acquire a basic understanding and knowledge of drug development and regulatory processes and other key industry drivers such as deals and alliances, company financings and patents
- Acquire basic Word, Excel and PDF skills to aid in Special Report formatting and publication
- Actively monitor for new web-based sources that will enrich database content
Client Support
- Provide clients with timely, coherent, and accurate research support as assigned by the ATA inbox manager
- Conduct primary/secondary research, assist with database search strategies, and perform basic data analysis
- Apply knowledge of the regulatory process, pharmaceutical drug development and clinical trials to provide highest quality data and support to clients
Team Support
- Actively participate in team meetings
- Learn roles and responsibilities of team and overall organizational structure of Biomedtracker, the Commercial domain, and Citeline as a whole
- Attend role-specific training workshops as requested
- Support team during absences
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Qualifications
Role Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (in Life Sciences, Economics or Finance a plus)
- Some experience at a pharmaceutical/biotech company or consulting/research firm is preferred but not required. Internship experience will be considered.
- Familiarity with drug development process and associated pharmaceutical markets preferred, but not required
- Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong internet research skills
- Ability to use sound logic to edit, manipulate and analyze different types of data
- Good organizational, time management and priority setting skills, and the flexibility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
