Senior Instructional System Designer

LinQuest has an immediate opening for a Senior Instructional Designer who will work at our customer site in Chantilly. This position provides hands HTML/React/Dreamweaver -on leadership and guidance within and across LQ Programs Systems Engineering (SE) Integrated Team to create training and guidance that allows us to deliver 100% on-target success transforming our customers’ workflow to be centered in a unified, collaborative, and effective digital engineering ecosystem. We are seeking domain knowledge in curricular design with the ability to create presentation materials that are divided between several potential formats from PowerPoint or WordPress or Jupyter Book/Jupyter Notebook presentations and compilations to Captivate/Articulate online course instantiations as well as video production. We also seek domain knowledge in the best selection and use of Learning Management Platforms and Knowledge Bases. Additionally, we seek a colleague who will help to create streamlined, embedded assessments as a part of all curricular efforts. An interest in outreach and experience in graphic design are important to our success. This senior instructional designer will report to the LQ Program/Team Leaders and is fully empowered to execute critical facets of the contract - including but not limited to: interact with Customer and Stakeholders; contribute to our customer-contractor partnership in setting priorities for course development, and creatively combine pedagogical approaches to achieve the best long-term successes for our training consumers. We are looking for a collaborative team member who wants to use modern educational approaches to increase the efficiency, pleasure, and positive outcomes for training; our improvements in training are a critical step in transforming the knowledge and practices of systems engineers across an organization.
Required Skills, Duties and Experience:
- US Citizenship and a TS/SCI clearance is required
- 4-year degree in a relative discipline (education, graphic arts)
- 12+ years of demonstrated experience with instructional design
- Demonstrated hands-on proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent
- Experience with or coursework in HTML/CSS and ability to edit a WordPress site, including the use of Learning Management software
- Experience with or coursework in Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Experience with or coursework in creating and analyzing instructional assessments
- Experience with or coursework in creating active learning materials, perhaps through software such as Adobe Captivate or Articulate Storyline
- Ability to take rough ideas and materials from an engineering subject matter expert and create a clear, organized, visually appealing curricular story
- Strong interpersonal and team-building skills, as well as clear and concise grammatically correct written and verbal communications and presentation skills.
- Under the guidance of LQ SHADOWFAX Program Leaders and in consultation with customer stakeholders, this instructional designer will:
- Improve existing training materials by improving the flow and presentation style within the current format
- Improve existing training materials by re-imagining the learning tools and pedagogical approach to the training, for example:
- Creating knowledge bases and active learning experiences to substitute for some lectures
- Creating short videos to allow asynchronous web-based learning
- Using assessment gateways to pace learning and content
- Seeking creative approaches to active knowledge acquisition
- Work with subject matter experts to efficiently create training materials of various types
- Contribute to curriculum development and evaluate our success in meeting workforce needs, and actively contribute to the prioritization and integration of our training solutions
- Contribute to the creation of marketing materials publicizing training opportunities and tools
- Contribute to the design, clarity, and offerings available on our training website
- Contribute to performance dashboards measuring our training effectiveness
- Decisively lead, impactfully collaborate, substantively contribute to, and/or comprehensively take charge of taskings and milestones in the formulation, planning, and delivery of step-by-step DE/MBSE guidance and tutorials as part of Customer Training requirements. While a background in DE is not needed for this position, an interest in and ability to learn the materials in our training is important
