The remote School Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides educationally related occupational therapy services to students identified as qualifying for special education services according to the students’ Individualized Educational Program (IEP) under the direction of an Occupational Therapist.

This is a full-time REMOTE position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
Conducts individual and group therapy sessions, aligning interventions with students' identified needs within their Individualized Education Program (IEP);
Assesses students’ abilities and performance in activities in a variety of areas including fine motor tasks, oral dysfunction, sensory impairments, perceptual motor skills, posture and movement;
Contributes to the evaluation process and assists in developing goals under the direction of an OT
Collaborates on the methods and strategies needed to address student needs for educationally based therapy services;
Works in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members in implementing therapy services;
Instructs teachers and learning coaches on occupational therapy techniques;
Documents findings, actions taken, recommendations made regarding areas of services and maintains records as required by law, policy, administrative regulations and the department;
Monitors and tracks student progress by collecting data during therapy sessions;
Schedules and administers occupational therapy programs for students with physical limitations, orthopedic impairments and/or other impairments for the purpose of meeting their educational needs in accordance with the IEP goals and objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
