POSITION SPECIFICS

The Penn State Aeroacoustics Laboratory conducts research in aeroacoustics, aerodynamics, and flight simulation, with a focus on helicopters, small UAS (drones), and advanced air mobility (AAM) aircraft. The position seeks candidates capable of innovative, independent research; mentoring graduate students; and fostering a collaborative environment. Responsibilities include managing multiple research projects, engaging with sponsors, and preparing reports and proposals. The candidate will also develop and integrate computational tools for aeroacoustics, combining acoustic, aerodynamic, and flight-dynamics codes to enhance modeling capabilities.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field by the hire date. Expertise in computational aeroacoustics, rotorcraft aerodynamics, flight simulation, or AAM noise modeling is required. Proficiency in MATLAB, Fortran, C/C++, Python, and simulation tools like CHARM and PSU-WOPWOP is highly desirable.
