A caregiver in this position works day/evening/night/weekend, 5:30am—8:30pm.   


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Prepare quality food items in accordance with production sheets, recipes, and menus.  

  • Operate kitchen equipment.  

  • Prepare food on the grill, in ovens, or using an induction stove 

  • Prepare cold food items, vegetables, salad mixes, and sandwich spreads.  

  • Selecting, measuring, grinding, slicing and mixing ingredients.  

  • Assist the cook and nutrition assistants.  

  • Assist in the assembly of food for final preparation.  

  • Assemble, transport and pick up patient trays to and from patient rooms.  

  • Assist in preparing, setting up, serving and cleaning up special dinners and luncheons.  

  • Follow proper sanitation procedures to produce, maintain, and leave a clean, sanitized, and organized work area.  

  • Practice proper food handling techniques and the “clean as you go” policy.  

  • Organize supplies and food products.  

  • Operate, load, and unload the dishwasher 


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Can work in hot kitchens around hot equipment and a variety of other potential hazards ranging from spills on floors to sharp cutting equipment (knives, slicers, etc.)
