About the role

Department Summary:

The Society Business Solutions Unit (SBS) reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) function and supports all Society Programs. This unit enables ACS goal achievement through data research/analysis, strategic planning, web communications support, and an array of customer service activities. The SocietyBusiness Solutions unit partner with IT to oversee the Society Project Prioritization efforts and often serve as partners on IT-related initiatives, supporting planning, testing, and prioritization-related activities.

 

Position Summary:

SBS is seeking a talented Business Analyst Intern to support our team. This enthusiastic and confident individual will assist in gathering and developing detailed business requirement documentation for our strategic planning, member services, and data research teams. The Business Analyst Intern position is a unique blend of data, business, and technology.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

•Conduct or assist in the documentation of simple to moderate business analysis projects under direct supervision.

•Provide support to develop business capability needs, business requirements, and business information, and outline the steps to complete the processes.

•Support the team in the ability to translate and decompose business needs into multiple layers of requirements and/or user stories.

•Translate and document manual operational activities into detailed process workflows and assess the level of effort (LOE) for each.

•Conduct requirement-gathering team meetings with business users and the technical team and capture the requirements and use cases.

•Work with other team members and subject matter experts to resolve questions and solve problems.

•Other duties as assigned.

 

Education Requirements:

The Ideal candidate will be a rising junior or senior, pursuing a Masters/PhD. majoring in Business, Management, Computer Science, Data Architecture, or a related area.

 

Required Qualifications:

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, work ethic, independence, problem-solving ability, strong presentation skills, organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, and overall positive attitude. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Position Summary

*This position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. (or applicable) office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, three days per week. ACS employees are in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday with the third in-office day scheduled in consultation with the manager. Schedule flexibility may be required for this role to support in-office activities. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other two days of the week from a location of their choice.
