Maritime & Intelligence Systems seeks a Mid-Level Mechanical Systems Engineer to perform the design and analysis of mechanisms, electronics packaging, electromechanical & hydraulic actuation, and structural integration; and support procurement, fabrication, integration, and test of those systems for the Orca XLUUV program. Job duties include: development and validation of design concepts from requirements; preliminary and detailed design to implement those design concepts; definition and management of interfaces; and support of planning, monitoring and controlling subsystem-level design, analysis, procurement, fabrication, assembly, integration, and test activities to deliver subsystems with first time quality and within cost/schedule constraints.
This is a first shift position, 100% onsite in Huntington Beach, CA, and with up to 10% travel.
Position Responsibilities Include:
Support the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design
Support the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups
Perform and document analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
Contribute to supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals
Support system components' designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detail documentation
Train others
Work under general direction
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Huntington Beach, CA.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
3+ years of experience with 3D CAD modeling, and drawing production, release, and revision
3+ years of general drawing interpretation & GD&T knowledge
3+ years of experience using Product Data Manager (PDM) tools
Experience with structural analysis, including closed form and finite element analysis solutions
Design experience with hydraulic or electro-mechanical systems such as actuators, valves, and motors
Understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer
Understanding of various types of sensors and instrumentation including strain gages, temperature / pressure measurement, accelerometers, and deflection transducers, and associated signal conditioning and data acquisition systems
Experience as a member of a cross-functional team
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Proficiency with UG NX
Proficiency with Team Center configuration management tools and processes
Experience in Model Based Definition (MBD)
Experience designing, operating, and troubleshooting instrumentation systems
Experience with maritime systems engineering and operations
Exposure to software development and delivery
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. P
