Senior Storage Engineer

The Dedicated Account Senior Storage Engineer is a senior member of the team who performs a combination of technical leadership and engineering tasks. This engineer is expected to be subject matter expert on one or more of the platforms and technologies in a dedicated customer environment, responsible for providing guidance and detailed documentation to the customer, as well as to 11:11 Systems engineering staff, and shared and sales team members. Collaboration in this large team is the norm, with a goal of providing as much value-add as possible for our customer. This engineer is also expected to serve in an on-call rotation, providing 24x7 support of incident management, change planning and execution, life cycle management, and new hardware and software implementation and retirement.
- Develop and maintain platform specific documentation, including diagrams, CDRs, and procedures.
- Act as subject matter expert and trusted advisor to the customer for one or more hardware and software platforms which are supported in customer production environment.
- Work with customer and 11:11 Systems teams to improve processes.
- Lead troubleshooting during Incidents to resolve issues within SLA commitment.
- Participate in Service Incident Report writing and own post incident problem tasks.
- Manage Vendor tickets in support of incidents and problem tasks.
- Plan and execute changes in response to Incidents, customer requests, lifecycle, and implementation and decommission projects.
- Proactively monitor environment and make recommendations to improve efficiency.
- Know and follow the customized Incident, Change, and Problem processes in support of our dedicated customer.
- Provide architectural guidance to sales solutions in support of new revenue opportunities.
Requirements
- US citizen working in the continental US.
- Minimum 8 years of diverse experience supporting Dell Powerstore and XtremIO, and other industry standard storage technologies with strong understanding of underlying process interaction.
- Experience managing both block and file storage, including in depth NFS knowledge.
- Strong customer service and communications skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Able to effectively work in a team environment, as well as independently.
- Strong storage problem isolation and resolutions skills.
- Able to lead and to direct vendors during troubleshooting.
- Willingness to learn new technologies relevant to our customer environment.
- MS Office and Outlooks skills.
Preferred:
- College Degree preferred but not required.
- Experience with Cisco FiberChannel switches.
- Service Now ticketing experience.
- Relevant technical certification in storage.
- Experience with shell, Perl, and other scripting tools.
