Job Description

Enterprise Horizon Consulting Group is seeking a skilled Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support the migration of on-premise applications to the cloud. In this role, you will be responsible for managing Oracle database environments throughout the migration lifecycle, ensuring seamless transitions, and optimizing database performance and security in the cloud. You will collaborate with the team to ensure compliance with government regulations while achieving scalability, reliability, and security within the cloud. Responsibilities may include:  

  • Migration Strategy & Execution: Lead and support the migration of Oracle databases and applications from on-premises environments to the cloud, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity during the transition. 
  • Oracle Database Management: Manage and maintain Oracle databases, including installation, configuration, patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. 
  • Cloud Architecture Design: Work with cloud architects and engineering teams to design secure, scalable, and highly available Oracle database solutions in the cloud, considering government compliance standards. 
  • Database Optimization: Continuously monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and apply best practices to optimize Oracle databases in the cloud environment. 
  • Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain disaster recovery, backup strategies, and high availability solutions for Oracle databases, leveraging tools like Oracle Data Guard, AWS RDS, or EC2-based solutions. 
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure all Oracle databases adhere to relevant security and compliance standards (e.g., FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST), implementing encryption, auditing, and access controls as needed. 
  • Automation & Scripting: Use automation tools and scripting (e.g., AWS Lambda, Python, Bash) to streamline database management tasks and improve operational efficiency. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including cloud engineers, application developers, and security experts, to facilitate the smooth migration of on-premise applications and databases to the cloud. 
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation on Oracle database configurations, migration procedures, disaster recovery plans, and security implementations. Provide detailed reports and progress updates to stakeholders. 

Requirements

  • Active Secret Security Clearance. 
  • Security+ or higher-level certification. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle database management.  
  • Strong understanding of AWS architecture, networking, and security concepts. 
  • Familiarity with cloud-native tools such as AWS RDS, Aurora, DMS, and CloudWatch. 
  • Expertise in backup, recovery, and high availability solutions like Oracle Data Guard and RAC. 
  • Scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages for automation. 
  • Understanding of government compliance requirements and ability to implement secure database architectures in AWS GovCloud. 
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
