Who we are

Our Analytics & Machine Intelligence team is looking for inquisitive and energetic scientists that are interested in working in state-of-the-art technologies at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Analysis. As a member of our technical staff, you will work on all aspects of software development, starting with concept ideation and development, followed by implementation and testing, and finally, support transition to operational environments. You will have the opportunity to apply your work products to real-world applications and leverage the knowledge gained from that experience into new and advanced research threads. BBN excels at high-end research and experimentation where theory meets application.

Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.  Employees are required to be on-site for 3 days per workweek.  Schedule of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

What you will do

• Work with small teams on national security problems, collaborating with the top academics in the domain of interest
• Design and implement software solutions using the latest open-source software; test and evaluate the produced solutions and validate their capabilities against the customer needs
• Participate in collaborative evaluations that assess performance against the state of the art
• Support the program lead in preparing presentations and writeups that describe the uniqueness of the approach
• Write and present conference papers about your work at peer-reviewed venues

What you need

• Typically requires BS with 5+ years, or MS with 3+ years, or PhD with 0-3 years
• Degrees in Computer Science / Engineering, Mathematics, and other related fields are all welcome
• Demonstrated experience in ML technologies such as Natural Language Processing, Reinforcement Learning, Complex Systems, etc.
• Proven ability to carry out a research project from idea to design, implementation, testing, and publication.
• Familiarity with state-of-the-art techniques used in addressing data analytic challenges.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, and a willingness to work closely with customers and partners.
• Experience working on code collaboratively, including use of tools such as git and issue tracking.

• Strong communicator with demonstrated ability to address customer needs in a dynamic environment
• Participation in research regarding advanced ML fields.
• Strong programming skills, e.g. system design and implementation
