About the Role

As Principal Projects Planning & Schedule, you will play a key role driving insightful strategies with the Project Managers and Technical Lead to ensure the best Study Work Plan and Execution Project Plan are planned and subsequently delivered bringing value forward for the technology projects both Waterfall and Agile. In this role you will:

 

• Lead the Minerals Americas Technology Project Planning and Scheduling team, ensuring consistency in applying the standards, best practices, improvements and services provided to all the Project Delivery Groups within Technology.
• Define project objectives/schedules, identify critical activities, control the project plan/schedule and drive continuous improvement initiatives in order to enhance the schedule compliance and value optimisation for all type of projects in the technology domains (Networking, hosting, data centres, applications, equipment automations, process automations, etc.)
• Lead the planning and range analysis workshops to obtain the schedule baseline (target), contingency, allowances, and stretch-threshold range. 
• Provide insightful reporting for Project Managers and Managers both for the entire projects and the engineering workpackages to enable proactive decision making, remediation actions, etc. in order to achieve the project KPIs.
• Work in close coordination with the Cost estimation, Cost control and Deliverables control team to ensure an integrated project control, analysis and reporting service are delivered to the Project Managers and their Line Leaders.
• Be in charge of Document Control disciplines which work in close integration with Schedulers to provide the deliverables progress and completion evidence.
• Be in charge of Planview (application used for BHP Capital Management) Portfolio Coordinator role, who performs the tollgate compliance process i.e. verification of Cost, Schedule, Value, etc, KPIs recorded in Planview and supported by the relevant evidence.
• Travel to sites in Antofagasta (Escondida) and Calama (Spence) when necessary to control projects delivery on site.
   

About You

 As the successful candidate, you are driven to create business value by delivering at speed with an unwavering commitment to safety, quality and culture. In addition you will have:  

 

• An Engineer or Bachelor degree in the fields of STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics). PMP Certification desirable.
• Years of proven experience in project planning, scheduling and associated reporting. 
• Proven experience leading teams with an inclusive and respectful approach and the ability to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously to guide your team in achieving their goals.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage people at all levels of the business (Head of, Managers, Project Managers, etc.)
• Strong action orientation and superior problem solving, decision making and influencing skills. 
• Effective interpersonal skills allowing you to collaborate and build relationships across departments and different countries.
• Strong reporting skills and the associated tools (Suite MS 365, Power BI, etc)
• Fluency in English will be considered in the candidate selection.
• Desirable understanding of Mining Industry and site work.
