About the role

The Team:

Northern Tasmanian Pathology Service (NTPS) provides Pathology services to Launceston General Hospital and the Northern regions of Tasmania. We are the only public pathology service operating in North Tasmania. NTPS aims to deliver a high-quality service to general practitioners, medical specialists and private hospitals, providing patients with no out of pocket expenses for Medicare eligible tests. The team at NTPS comprises a large team involving multi-disciplinary scientists, technicians, non-technical staff and Pathologists

The Role:

Assist in Central specimen reception area with sample receipt, unpacking and registration along with undertaking of pre acceptance and pre analytical checks.

You will need:

  • Good understanding of Laboratory workflow practices
  • Prior experience of working in a team
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Prior experience in a Laboratory will be considered advantageous

Details of appointment:

  • Permanent, part time, shift worker position, working 45 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
  • Fixed term, part time, shift worker position, working 48 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 25 September 2026.
  • Fixed term part time, shift worker position, working 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you can join us until 2 December 2026.
  • Fixed term, part time, shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $73,811 to $79,779 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • An associate Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, or an equivalent qualification, appropriate to the nature of the work

  • Current Driver’s Licence

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Good Shipping Certification, or the ability to gain certification
