Director, Supplier Management

A Director, Supplier Management is responsible for the holistic relationship between Capital One and assigned spend categories, to ensure a stable and efficient supply chain. This position is responsible for key cost management, risk management, and performance management related tasks for each of their assigned third party relationships. Specific spend category responsibilities will be assigned to each Director, Supplier Management based upon the needs of a particular Business Unit or Staff function. Depending upon organizational needs, Director, Supplier Management roles may be embedded in operations or horizontal support groups, or they may be consolidated in centralized third party management-like functions. A Director, Supplier Management is accountable for ensuring that all Corporate or Business Unit level policies and procedures are adhered to and for ensuring that appropriate documentation exists for all of their assigned third party relationships. A Director, Supplier Management is expected to work in a collaborative environment with internal customers, as well as with other appropriate stakeholder groups within Capital One.


Responsibilities:
• Lead and develop a team of supplier managers across one or more major spend categories
• As applicable, maintain responsibility for operational components of assigned spend categories
• As applicable, manage a major change program (e.g. supplier transition, platform migration, new outsourcing, etc.) in assigned spend categories
• Lead executive level conversations across assigned spend categories
• Deliver year over year cost savings in assigned spend categories
• Lead development and execution of category/supplier strategies
• Partner with internal budget owners to deliver against operating or marketing budgets
• Partner with appropriate stakeholders on negotiations for all managed third party relationships
• Accountable for proper invoice review, reconciliation and payment for assigned categories
• Resolve performance related issues/escalations with third parties
• Produce regular performance related reporting for internal stakeholders • Manage on-boarding/off-boarding of third parties
• Proactively identify and mitigate category risks
• Synthesize risk and performance related data into a holistic assessment of assigned third parties
• Accountable for TPM policy requirements for all managed third party relationships
• Accountable for category or third party-related audits
• Partner with internal risk groups to ensure third party relationships are compliant with all relevant requirements
• Partner with appropriate stakeholders on sourcing activities which impact managed third party relationships

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
• At least 7 years of experience in operations management or risk management

Preferred Qualifications:
• Preferred: Masters Degree
• Demonstrated strong people leadership and development, outstanding communication and relationship building, business judgment on contract and commercial issues, strong problem identification and problem resolution, strong analytical abilities
• Supplier Managers are required to solve a wide variety of complex problems utilizing data and spend analysis, third party cost analysis, and evaluative decision-making
• Director Supplier Managers must be able to influence and persuade senior executives, provide clear project guidance to customers, and collaborate across cross-functional teams
• Excellent subject matter expertise and relevant experience in third party selection, negotiation, communication, and third party management Common Fields of Study: Business, Pre-Law, MBA, Law

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $181,900 - $207,600 for Director, Supply Chain

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
