Trade Compliance Specialist

Scentsy is looking for a Trade Compliance Specialist to ensure Scentsy is in compliance with all international import laws, export laws, and regulations.

What You Will Do:
- Review Logistics Department’s Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications assigned for imports and exports of all materials and products to insure accuracy and duty rate efficiency
- Audit US and Canadian Customs documents for accuracy. Provide direction to customs brokers to make corrections to customs entries when errors are found
- Audit, process, log, and assign appropriate account numbers to all US customs broker and Canadian customs broker invoices upon receipt for payment
- Maintain new product verification in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, SAP, including group assignment, HTS codes, product Unit of Measure (UOM) and weight, landed cost, and product status (i.e. active, inactive, close-out)
- Conduct analysis on manufactured materials to determine Country of Origin
- Prepare the necessary import and export files to support duty drawback claims
- Maintain and supervise compliance with all foreign Free Trade Treaties including certificate validation
- Train internal departments on assists and liaison with customs brokers to ensure assists and tooling costs are declared timely
- Work with vendors to update and maintain North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) certificates and Country of Origin documents
- Provide tariff engineering and strategic guidance to reduce overall duty spend
- Communicate with customs brokers to resolve issues and monitor performance
- Create import document databases for ocean, air, and small package shipments
- Maintain and update the trade compliance manual and oversee required record retention
- Continually monitor and educate teams on changes to Foreign Trade Regulations
We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Experience working with import and export laws
- Experience in importing, exporting, logistics, sourcing, customs brokerage or closely related field
- Customs Broker License preferred
- Knowledge of tariff classification and importing experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of import and export laws
- Knowledge of US CBP and other government agencies required
- Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system preferred
