About the Team

The Corporate Security team is responsible for the security and protection of all OpenAI employees and executives. We are committed to creating and maintaining a secure environment that allows our team members to focus on their work without fear of harm or disruption.

About the Role

As Director of Operations for Corporate Security (CorpSec) in the Americas, you will set the strategic direction and lead the execution of physical security operations across all U.S. offices outside of San Francisco, including New York, Washington, DC, and Seattle, among others.. This role supports all areas of CorpSec, including Resilience, which encompasses crisis management, events, training, and travel, as well as Executive Protection, Technology, International Operations, and Protective Intelligence.

You will build strong relationships across the company and with external partners, lead global vendor relationships, and ensure security operations align with OpenAI’s mission and culture. You will oversee a range of security services and infrastructure, build standards and systems that scale, and create safe, secure environments where OpenAI employees can do their best work.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Setting strategic and operational direction for physical security programs across OpenAI’s Americas offices (excluding SF HQ).

  • Supporting all security pillars including Resilience, Protection, Technology, International, Risk, and Protective Intelligence.

  • Overseeing uniformed guard services globally, ensuring vendor performance, contract compliance, and ROI.

  • Creating and maintaining access control policies, physical security standards, and procedures that foster safety and trust.

  • Leading emergency preparedness and response programs with a focus on predictability and employee care.

  • Consulting on physical security planning for new office builds and expansions.

  • Managing security initiatives in partnership with Security and Real Estate and Workplace teams.

  • Implementing solutions to address employee security concerns and requests with empathy and responsiveness.

  • Leading and mentoring CorpSec team members to support their growth and performance.

  • Building strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders and external law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • 15–20 years of combined law enforcement and corporate security experience.

  • Proven experience leading physical security programs in fast-paced environments.

  • Experience advising senior and executive leadership.

  • Strong knowledge of access control, guard force management, security operations centers, and workplace safety standards.

  • Experience managing vendors, budgets, and contracts with a focus on service delivery and measurable performance.

  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and building scalable systems from the ground up.

  • Familiarity with tools including Google Workspace, emergency notification systems, and travel risk intelligence platforms.

  • A strong ethical foundation and a commitment to OpenAI’s mission and values.

This role is based in New York, NY, with regular travel to OpenAI’s offices in Washington, DC, Seattle, and potentially to data centers and future office locations. Additionally, some international travel may be required.
