Purpose of Role

As a Distribution House Electrical Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for providing electrical and controls engineering design, modification and support for multiple controls projects ranging from a single machine to a complete line or process.  This involves driving a safety culture while ensuring secure storage of inventory and accurate, timely shipment of customer orders at minimal cost.  Distribution House Supervisors drive department performance and accountability while enforcing Under Armour’s Core Competencies.

Your Impact

May include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Activities may be performed as Project Manager/ Project Lead or in support of other Project efforts.
  • Responsible for all Electrical & Controls programming and electrical engineering activities for new projects and/or equipment upgrades, including:
  • Overall control system research, concept, design, and estimating.
  • Design custom control systems and generate electrical schematics and BOM's suitable for fabrication, in compliance with established company standards and applicable regulatory codes.
  • Provide component and instrumentation specification and selection for various processes.
  • Coordinate and execute design and programming of PLC, HMI, VFD, and complex industrial network projects from hardware and software integration through construction and commissioning.
  • Coordination of third-party contractors during constructions phases of a project.
  • Perform on-site commissioning to implement and validate the system designs.
  • Provide appropriate technical documentation including a control sequence of operation, operational and maintenance manuals, and recommended spare parts lists to ensure that the design meets operations and maintenance customers' needs.
  • Leverage and coordinate outside engineering, design, and CAD resources are appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain Electrical & Controls Engineering specifications and procedures. Drawing preparation to ensure completeness and compliance to established company standards and applicable regulatory codes.
  • Perform reviews of existing equipment and system to propose upgrades and replacements, and present findings and recommendations to operations and leadership.
  • Develop your career via peer-learning through sharing of knowledge with other experienced engineers and fostering "Communities of Practice."
  • Provide comprehensive training to Maintenance and Production personnel in various technical areas.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to the distribution operations to determine the fundamental causes of equipment and operational issues to resolve quality and/or productivity issues to meet budgeted objectives.
  • Provide training of new technologies to the distribution center’s electrical support staff.
  • Identify and implement solutions to solve operational problems on equipment in support of Continuous Improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • BS and/or MS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, or an AS or Certificate Program plus 5 years' experience where noted below.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience specifying, designing, programming, and implementing control and automation platforms, including, PLCs (AB Control Logix and Micrologix), HMls (RS Factory Talk SE), AC Drives (AB), and industrial network communication protocols (Ethernet 1/P, DeviceNet, Profibus, etc.).
  • Demonstrated installation and commissioning experience, including contractor and vendor management, ranging from a single machine to a complete line or process area.
