About the role

Job Description Summary

Performs systems and business process analysis and design, develops, programs, implements, enhances and maintains new and modified custom applications to support Credit Union products, services and operational productivity; and performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Programmer Analysts perform professional applications development and maintenance duties to enhance operational productivity and provide for the delivery of high quality products and services to members.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Programmer/Analyst IIs are distinguished from Programmer/Analyst I’s by their applicable experience and responsibility for carrying out assigned application development activities independently, with a sound understanding of Credit Union business operations, products and compliance requirements.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs analysis and translates functional specifications/business requirements into technical specifications and logical system processes; creates development plans following structured design methodologies; confers with other Software Development staff and users to clarify process and data requirements.
  • Designs and develops software; writes or modifies and tests program code, using standard software development tools and programming applicable languages; develops logic and validation criteria and designs and develops custom reports, screens, scripts, utility programs, menus and other features using standard software and development tools; generates reports; comments all programs, scripts and applications to enhance maintainability; writes documentation for systems developed.
  • Creates tests plans and participates in unit, systems, interface and integration testing; ensures all quality assurance reviews are completed successfully; prepares instructions for Data Center staff on installation and operational procedures; ensures newly installed applications are functioning correctly; provides technical assistance to the Data Center and users to resolve any problems identified.
  • Trains users on applications developed and on hardware/software operations and interfaces; as appropriate, develops user documentation manuals and procedures.
  • Develops enhancements and performs maintenance on applications; writes and tests program code to extend system functionality, incorporate new features and make other application changes and updates.
  • Completes all required training programs to maintain a current knowledge applicable to assigned duties and responsibilities, including regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Conducts code review walkthroughs with other development staff.
  • Performs final implementation walkthroughs to ensure that all specifications and test case conditions have been met successfully. Ensures that executable modules are compiled, documented, and ready for production implementation.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job satisfactorily, an employee must be able to carry out each essential duty competently. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and abilities required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Education Requirements

4 Year / Bachelors Degree - Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or a closely related field - Required

Experience Requirement

3 Years - Responsible applications design and development experience - Required

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Systems design theory, concepts and principles including data management and administration and development concepts.
  • Software development and maintenance methodologies and tools.
  • Programming theory and applicable programming languages, including C#, .net, SQL and SQR.
  • Relational database concepts and standard database software including Oracle and SQL.
