The Role:

As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the primary health care principles, Agency policy and direction, legal requirements, and relevant professional competencies.  The Clinical Nurse Consultant will provide effective management of human and physical resources, and leadership and direction in the strategic development and management of a comprehensive multidisciplinary inpatient mental health team.

• Contribute to clinical leadership and manage a multidisciplinary mental health team, ensuring high-quality care aligned with service goals and guidelines.
• Support the relevant NUM/DON by assuming a lead role in the oversight of designated clinical processes associated with the optimal operation of an inpatient mental health team, including intake, crisis response, interim support, case management and general team coordination.
• Establish and maintain effective links with broader aspects of Statewide Mental Health Services, Emergency Department, and adult community mental health services

The Team:

The Mental Health Inpatient Unit is located in the Royal Hobart Hospital, level 2 and 3K West. MHIU sits under the Mental Health Department (MHD) within the Statewide Mental Health Services' Acute Care Stream and supports adults with serious mental illness across multiple locations, serving southern Tasmania and those best suited to its services.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $111,506 - $118,336 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Allowances: 

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
• Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.
• Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type.
