POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare 3 meals daily for the Southwest Child Development Center; Monday - Friday
  • Complete all documentation daily as required by the Operations Manager and Department of Education to include inventory control, rotation systems and temperature systems. 
  • Ordering and purchasing of food and supplies from approved vendors in consultation with the Director.  
  • Stocking food items and maintaining storage areas in an orderly and clean manner which meets the Metro Health Department.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and operation of all equipment, furnishing, dishes, and utensils in the kitchen, storage areas.  Ensure all food service utensils, equipment and chemicals that could be of harm to others are secured in locked areas, i.e. knifes, aerosol/liquid cleaning chemicals, liquid fire. 
  • Maintain a tidy, uncluttered, safe and neat kitchen, and storage areas.  
  • Obtain and maintain Board of Health Food Service, First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Prompt and consistent service of meals and snacks on a daily basis.
  • Occasionally assists in classrooms for break coverage.
     

HOURS:Approximately Monday-Friday 6:30a.m. - 2:30p.m.  

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong Commitment to YMCA Philosophy & Mission
  • High School diploma 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Staff must possess a valid driver’s license, have reliable transportation, and be insurable by the YMCA of Greater Louisville.
  • Exemplary human relation and motivational skills are needed.
  • Must be self motivated.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to multi-task while completing high quality, accurate work in a timely manner
  • Ability to deal with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities

  • Community awareness of the agency and its services is heightened
  • Cooperation between staff, and vendors
  • A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience in food service background
  • Understand and uphold the guidelines set forth by Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Work with the Childcare director and staff to complete the monthly paperwork required for CACFP compliance
