Responsibilities
Role Overview: What You’ll Be Doing
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team with a focus on technical accounting and financial reporting support. This position is ideal for an early-career accounting professional who is eager to deepen their knowledge of U.S. GAAP, gain exposure to internal controls and SOX compliance, contribute to the integrity and accuracy of the company’s publicly filed financial statements and disclosures, work on complex accounting topics (e.g., leasing, debt, equity, and capitalized internal-use software), and support a high-performing finance team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounting and Reporting, this individual will support the monthly and quarterly close process, prepare journal entries, reconciliations, fluctuation analyses and financial statements and disclosures and collaborate across departments to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
The right candidate will have the opportunity to advance quickly – with a clear path to Senior Accountant based on performance and demonstrated growth in technical proficiency, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration.
Your Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Execute critical components of the monthly and quarterly close process, including variance analysis and internal reporting packages
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules related to technical accounting areas such as leases, debt, equity, and software capitalization
- Support the preparation of key external financial reporting deliverables, including Form 10-Q and 10-K
- Partner with Finance, Legal, Tax and other departments to ensure accurate treatment of routine and non-routine transactions
- Provide audit support and respond to requests from external auditors
- Participate in system improvements and process standardization initiatives

Qualifications
What You Bring to the Table: Education & Certification Requirements
We’re looking for someone who has a unique mix of experience, skills, and passion for what we do:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
- Active CPA license or progress toward certification
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in public accounting and/or a financial reporting role in industry
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
- Curious, analytical mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

At Wheels Up, we believe in fair compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications. The salary for this role ranges from $75,000 – $95,000, depending on a variety of factors.
