About the role

Department Overview

OHSU Dermatology is located in the Center for Health & Healing on the South Waterfront in Portland, Oregon. The Department of Dermatology is dedicated to providing our patients the best and most innovative dermatologic care for the broad range of skin, hair, nail, and mucous membrane disorders.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Documents care given, observations, and responses on appropriate tools or forms. Acts as a scribe for providers when appropriate.
  • The SN will obtain a health history, monitor the patient intra-operatively and post-operatively and will provide surgical assistance as needed.
  • Other duties include patient teaching, wound care management, point of care testing, and dressings.
  • Takes vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature), height and weight and records in EPIC according to nursing policies and procedures. Vital signs are recorded and progress notes are completed thoroughly and accurately by the end of the day.
  • Maintains stock levels of supplies.
  • Collects data for assessment/reassessment and unit level performance improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in Graduate Program (minimum 4.5 credit hours)

  • Completion of at least 1 clinical semester of an RN program

  • Basic skin care, vital sign collection, documentation, ability to type at least 45 wpm. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) training is required.

Additional Details

While the primary Dermatology locations are at the OHSU Center for Health and Healing, travel to outlying clinics may be required (including locations in Beaverton, Lake Oswego, and on Marquam Hill.
