About the role

The Enterprise Financial Planning & Analysis, Budget and Incentives team provides centralized budgeting and incentive tracking for Sherwin-William’s global businesses. This includes partnering with the company’s business units to develop and maintain accurate expectations of business drivers that enable business strategy and action.

The Global Supply Chain (GSC) Finance Manager of Budget and Incentives leads a team that works closely with a variety of functional areas within the Company spanning various levels of the organization. This role manages a segment of the global incentive compensation budgeting process from end to end and has responsibility over ensuring that the Company’s incentive compensation budget policies and procedures are implemented and maintained throughout the year, driving accurate incentive forecasts and payouts.  

Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments.

Position Responsibilities 

  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain the financial operating systems surrounding the annual incentive compensation budget process for GSC to ensure budgets are accurate and in alignment with the Company’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Create a consistent and streamlined incentive month-end close and forecasting process that will be used to provide clear visibility of financial projections, control costs, and prevent unforeseen impacts to key stakeholders.
  • Possess a strong understanding of US GAAP to own the GSC bonus close activities and deliver accurate on-time monthly journal entries  
  • Create scenario modeling based on historical data, current attainment trends, and/or forecast  
  • Develop enhancements that will allow business units to better drive strategy and profit.
  • Lead a team with a focus on talent development; set standards of performance, coach, train, and develop employees through regular, clear, and consistent communication of goals and deliverables.  
  • Build strong and meaningful relationships with business partners and internal customers with a focus on trust and integrity
  • Oversee a team that has responsibility for:  
    • Calculating and tracking incentive programs in conjunction with HR and business partners
    • Owning the annual GSC site budget process, including template updates
    • Actively managing GSC attainment and budget adjustments to ensure accuracy is maintained throughout the year
    • Managing the timely and accurate publication of monthly financial incentive results  

 

In addition to the tasks listed above, this position will gain exposure to reporting and hierarchy changes related to the Company’s global system integration projects and will help drive continuous improvement by employing transactional lean concepts to improve the budget and incentive processes.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, ability to work well under pressure, and the skills to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to adjust and reprioritize as needed, while maintaining a strict adherence to deadlines is critical. Attention to detail, as well as a desire and ability to problem solve through complex financial situations is a must. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION: 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with a focus in Finance or Accounting.

Preferred:

  • Master’s in Accounting/Finance and/or CPA  

 

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience of consistent performance by meeting or exceeding expectations in Finance or Accounting related roles as demonstrated in this job description.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in budgeting for incentive compensation
  • Ability to analyze data, present findings, and offer proposed solutions.
  • 7+ years’ experience of consistent performance by meeting or exceeding expectations in Finance or Accounting related roles as demonstrated in this job description.
  • Previous manager experience, particularly a manager of others 

 

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Strong communications skills in both verbal and written form, relaying ideas in both technical and user-friendly language to a wide variety of functional areas.
