This role in summary
Whirlpool is seeking qualified candidates for a Analyst - Engineering: Fabrication Engineer
to join our team in Amana, IA. This role will be onsite. Overall, in this role you will be providing Engineering support to facilitate changes for new projects, tooling & equipment modifications, or maintenance requests to support Refrigerator production.
Your responsibilities will include
Provide Engineering direction and execution to fabrication activities
Troubleshoot and implement solutions to complex machine breakdown and quality issues
Research,develop and implement a new manufacturing process for fabrication technology with the plant
Develop and execute projects related to new product introduction
Develop and execute capital equipment purchase projects to improve, safety, quality, cost, capacity increase and/or risk to business
Develop the strategies for implementing advances in new emerging fabrication technologies
Provide mentoring to team members to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product, design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, capabilities assembly methods, and quality control standards
Lead AM/PM projects in the assigned areas (autonomous maintenance/professional maintenance)
Driving root cause analysis through the structured diagnosis of equipment failures using FI methodology, (focused improvement)
Minimum requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
Preferred skills and experiences
Six Sigma Certification
Project management experience
Metal forming tooling including blanking and progressive/transfer tooling
WCM experience
Troubleshooting of highly automated metal fabrication machines
Root cause analysis and developing solutions
GD&T, (Global Dimensioning and Tolerance) stackup, and statistical process control
3D modeling through Solid Works, Creo and ProE
