About the role

We are seeking a Principal Applied Scientist - TheCreate Team, Office Group. In this role you will collaborate with a multi-functional group to deliver next generation innovations and experiences, leveraging, fine tuning and prompting engineering foundation models.  You will partner with product and engineering teams to invent and deliver on the future for Microsoft CoPilot and other generative artificial products (AI) products.

This role can be based out of any of Microsoft offices in the US, with flexibility for in-office or work from home schedules. If within a reasonable commutable distance from MS Offices in Redmond, Silicon Valley/Mountainview, CA there is a preference to be on-site occasionally to engage with stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research, (e.g., Large Language Models (LLMs)/large multimodal model (LMM)/Small Language Model (SLM), computer vision, research)
    • OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of customer/user-facing, project-delivery experience, professional services, and/or consulting experience.
