BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:
The M QS SUBSTATION & METER SUBSTATION Department of the P SUBSTATION & METER Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: Non-Exempt)
JOB FUNCTION:
Maintains substations, vaults and supporting Company facilities. Installs and maintains control wiring and supervisory controls; maintains, repairs and installs equipment and apparatus for the distribution of electrical energy.=
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Fundamental Responsibilities:
- Maintains substations, vaults, and supporting facilities. Installs or removes transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, regulators, and similar equipment. Installs and maintains control wiring and supervisory controls.
- Inspects, tests, services, overhauls, and repairs transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, regulators and similar equipment.
- Does electric and gas welding and cutting as required for construction and maintenance of substations.
- May work on energized equipment and lines using protective equipment as required.
- Performs the work of a journeyman Electrical Mechanic as required. Directs work of personnel in lower classifications on any or all of the above operations.
Other Responsibilities:
- Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
- Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to identify and distinguish different colors and color hues required.
- Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license and State of Hawaii Commercial driver’s license (Class B). Must meet the standards for frequent required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.
- Must be able to obtain a Medical Examiners Certificate.
- T9, T10: Graduate of Electrical Mechanic Apprentice program or equivalent training and experience.
