Tennyson Center for Children is seeking qualified clinical intern candidates, currently enrolled in an accredited master’s program, who are looking to complete their practicum or second year internship requirements. Under the guidelines of the graduate school program, the Intern provides family, individual, and/or group therapy to a designated caseload under the supervision of a licensed clinician. 

 Clinical Internships are available in the following programs: Day Treatment, Community Based Services, Residential, and Admissions. Clinical Internships may be eligible for a stipend, dependent upon university and program guidelines. 

 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Interest in working with children and adolescents who may have had exposure to adverse experiences and/or who may have an intellectual disability, developmental disability, or diagnosis of Autism. 
  • Conducts individual, family, and/or group therapy services, assessments, and case management.
  • Works collaboratively from intake to discharge with internal and external multidisciplinary team members to ensure consistency and continuity of care for clients and families.
  • Provides clinical case direction and recommendations to client teams.
  • Actively participates in weekly individual clinical supervision, group supervision, case consultation, and other identified multidisciplinary team meetings. 
  • Maintain up to date documentation and overall quality assurance for assigned clients. 
  • Maintains the highest standard of cultural competency in all dealings with clients and staff. 
  • Must be willing to support clients in times of crisis. 

 

Other Job Functions 

  • Participates in all-agency meetings and training opportunities, as appropriate. 
  • Willingness to employ alternative therapeutic interventions, including but not limited to, art, music, experiential activities, and animal-assisted intervention.
  • Other duties as assigned.

   

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to implement behavioral management techniques as needed.
  • Must be able to receive detailed information through oral and written communication.
  • Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through a computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
  • Must be able to lift 25/50 lbs. or more. 

  

    Working Conditions 

  • Position required to be in-person. Remote work may be approved by intern supervisor. 
  • On-campus, school based, day treatment setting, in-home setting, on-campus, residential setting.
  • Travel may be required dependent upon intern specific program. 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled in a Human Service related Master’s program at an accredited institution.
  • Previous experience working with families and children preferred.  
  • Basic Family therapy skills and theory base required.
  • All positions require criminal CBI background check, FBI fingerprint check, State of CO child abuse check, DMV driving record check, pre-employment drug test, pre-employment physical, academic credential verification, and reference check.
