IT Concepts seeks an experienced Systems / Business Analyst to support the Social Security Administration. The Business Analyst will help process improvements and enhance operational efficiency within the SSA. You will engage stakeholders in this role to identify business requirements and create essential documentation while leading user acceptance testing. You will analyze data to support strategic decision-making and recommend automation opportunities. Your expertise in Agile and Waterfall methodologies will be vital in successfully navigating projects. Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating and documenting complex end-user requirements and current business processes to include narratives and diagrams. Uses system analysis methodology to document “as-is” functions using narratives and diagrams and provides detailed documentation that clearly shows the proposed “to be” processes. Some of this documentation may require the individual to walk through or test a process or system or to work with other technicians to vet and finalize. This can include:
    • Data Flow Diagrams
    • Decision Trees
    • IT User instructions, Aides, and Manuals
    • IT Training materials
    • Installation guides
    • Project review and status updates
    • Various Types of Reports
    • Detailed Functional Requirements and/or User Stories
    • Detailed Technical Requirements
    • Administrative Responses or Controls
    • Project Documentation, Including Priority Lists, Summaries, Release Calendars
    • Meeting Agendas, Invites, Minutes, Action Plans, Overviews
    • Other Formal Written and spoken Presentations, Internal Documentation, Customer Products, Templates, or other Deliverables or Materials as Needs Arise
  • Meet and coordinate stakeholders to establish project scope, system goals, and requirements.
  • Develop, analyze, prioritize, and organize requirement specifications, data mapping, diagrams, and flowcharts for developers and testers.
  • Translate non-technical business requirements into highly technical requirement documents
  • Provide documentation of all processes and training as needed.
  • Attend discovery sessions with end-users to determine current business needs concerning a suite of applications and services (many written in ColdFusion) that need to be rewritten, retired, or combined.
  • Create Detailed Function Requirements (DFR) documents for new and existing applications.
  • Ensure all system design artifacts are created for Enterprise Architecture review.
  • Create, update, and/or maintain re-usable templates for various requirements, artifacts, and scope documents.

Location: Onsite - must be within commuting distance of Woodlawn, MD, and Washington, DC.

Salary Range: $80,000-90,000. Factors influencing pay within this range include geography, market demand, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field
  • Writing and Communicating
  • Organizing/Summarizing Information and Materials
  • Producing Technical Documentation
  • Leading Communication Efforts, Facilitating Meetings, Documentation from Meetings
  • Prioritizing and Executing Tasks
  • Consistent Communication, Orally and In Writing: They will interact with a wide range of people at various levels in the agency, sometimes cross-component.
  • Conducting Research and Summarization
  • Editing and proofreading
  • Involvement in Project Management Activities
  • Service as Point of Contact
  • Analysis and Coordination
  • Attention to Detail and Planning in All Activities
  • Task Analysis
  • Usability Testing (which will translate into materials)
  • Working in Team and One on One Situations
  • Excellent written skills in English
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft and other IT Writing/Collaboration/Organizational Products
