Position Summary:
The Patient Care Associate for the Mo-Bull Nurse Medical Clinic is responsible for administrative functions that support efficient patient care, including appointment scheduling, patient registration, insurance verification, copayment collection, medical records management, and referrals. The Patient Care Coordinator responds to
patients inquiries and manages the clinic schedule on the Mo-Bull Nurse Medical Clinic app before, during, and after patient visits.
DUTIES:
Greets patients as they arrive, manages wait time, and processes walk-up patients. Assists patients with intake processes. Verifies insurance and collects co-payments, as appropriate. Processes patient checkout, including scheduling follow-up appointments and providing referral information. Assists during medical examinations as needed.
Manages medical records in coordination with APRNs. Processes requests for medical records release and maintains appropriate logs, etc. Accurately and concisely documents patient feedback and special needs to clinicians.
Answers patients inquiries via email, text messages, phone calls, patient portals, etc. Ensures all correspondence is scanned and filed appropriately. Produces and distributes correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms. Assists as needed with prior authorization procedures. Assists the Director of Clinical Practice, APRNs, and College of Nursing Faculty with a collection of research data, as approved by the College.
Prepares and cleans treatment rooms and medical instruments and ensures treatment room supplies are well stocked. Maintains medical and office supply inventory (inventory, ordering, and stocking). Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public. Supports the clinic's coordinated
care approach, as appropriate.
Assists the practice with collecting and sharing patient insurance data, insurance verification, and other reimbursement issues with University Medical Service Association (UMSA). Coordinates communications with UMSA regarding billing, coding, insurance verification, and reimbursement. Assists UMSA, as needed, with provider credentialing. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, and two years of experience in a medical office setting and/or administrative medical practice experience.
Certification in CPR is required within three months from the date of employment. Position will be subject to reemployment alcohol/drug screenings.
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.

• (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
• (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree;
• (c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree;
• (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
• (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
• Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
• Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
