Jack in the Box is seeking a Franchise Business Consultant (FBC) located in Southern California. This role is responsible for owning and driving franchise restaurant financial and operational results by serving as the primary liaison between Jack in the Box and Franchise Operators (FO) with broad accountability to effectively coach, collaborate, and consult with FOs on building and sustaining profitable restaurants that operate in a manner consistent with Jack in the Box vision, strategies, and brand standards.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
OPERATIONAL EXECUTION – Serves as a subject matter expert on operational excellence and brand initiatives, which includes communicating and advising FOs on JIB’s vision, strategy, priorities and initiatives; facilitates training, answers questions, and participates in ensuring successful implementation, engagement, and ongoing execution. Monitors
integration/coordination with other initiatives, proactively anticipates and addresses implementation concerns, formulates communication plans, confers with appropriate Company resources as needed, provides new initiatives training, and confirms operational readiness. Uses sound operational knowledge to inform and educate FOs of their obligations to the Company and influence them in the benefits of executing brand systems, processes, and standards to enhance the guest experience and loyalty.
BRAND STANDARDS COMPLIANCE – Oversees, manages and ensures franchise compliance with brand standards through regular business reviews, analysis and consultation on operational effectiveness, guest service execution, product quality and safety, restaurant cleanliness and maintenance, and sales and profitability. Utilizes reporting and tracking tools to
analyze results and works with operators to develop and execute actionable plans to improve results and grow sales and profit. Provides candid feedback to FOs on ways to continuously improve the financial and operational strength of their business. Documents discussions, commitments, next steps, and follow-up.
LEVERAGE RELATIONSHIPS/CONTACTS – Builds a positive, trusted business relationship with FOs and maintains regular communication. Serves as the main point of contact for all functional departments/personnel (i.e. Marketing, IT, Finance & Accounting, Supply Chain, etc.) on franchise support and communications, including assisting with the planning and implementation of key initiatives and new products and systems. Attends and/or facilitates franchise business meetings; consults and influences franchisees on the value and return on making sound investments in their business (i.e. equipment upgrades, signage, image enhancement).
FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE – Applies financial acumen and maintains working knowledge of FO’s key business metrics and results of individual restaurants and their business as a whole; understands and assists FO’s in identifying business strengths and opportunities, pinpointing gaps and root causes, and process/system issues. Provides support, shares knowledge and information, and influences actions and decisions that achieve FO engagement and brand expectations.
FRANCHISE AGREEMENTS - Ensures FOs uphold terms of Franchise Agreement and submits reports of non-compliance to senior management and other disciplines; proactively seeks actionable and timely resolution. Evaluates and makes recommendations on franchise expansion and rewrites; stays current with legal aspects of franchise contracts and proactively works with the Legal department to help mitigate potential legal and financial risks of franchise operators.
Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned and directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Business Administration, Finance, or related field; MBA preferred.
Experience - 8-10 years related business management experience in the restaurant industry, including 3-5 years in a multi-unit franchise organization.
