About the Position
CDOT's Construction team is hiring a Civil Engineer Project Manager I to administer highway construction projects and oversee contractor performance within Region 2. This position serves as the Department's representative throughout construction, ensuring projects meet quality, budget, schedule, and regulatory requirements while supporting a safe transportation system for the traveling public.Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following
- Administer highway construction contracts and oversee transportation projects from construction through completion as CDOT's authorized representative.
- Lead and coordinate contractors, consultants, and project staff to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements.
- Inspect construction activities, monitor project schedules and expenditures, and document daily project progress.
- Verify the quality of installed materials and ensure compliance with project specifications, departmental standards, and contract requirements.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with CDOT staff, contractors, consultants, utility owners, government agencies, and other project stakeholders.
- Coordinate project staffing, consultant services, and day-to-day construction activities to support successful project delivery.
- Communicate with project partners, elected officials, and the traveling public regarding construction projects and related activities.
- Review construction plans, specifications, schedules, and cost information to help ensure projects are accurate, constructible, and ready for advertisement.
- Provide input on project phasing, contract requirements, schedules, and budgets during the pre-construction phase.
- Develop construction schedules and project budget documentation for upcoming transportation projects.
- Prioritize work, coordinate project activities, and support the successful delivery of assigned projects.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Engineers in Training, technical staff, and other project team members while continuing to develop project management and leadership skills.
